On the Shore of South-China Sea

Let this be the raison d'etre of this self addressal — tonight, 1:00 am, the sea is calm, you're calm. No agitation. No palpitations. No self curses, no blames laid on land or people. Let me bring it to you, real, no image. Let it out. What's the benefit of this medium if everything is to be siloed and contained? Let everyone know these fights were a part of you, you lived them, you'll live them, but oh did you know one decision has put everything to so much clarity? Put everything to such calm. A calm of belief. But the calm you see today was not there a few months ago.

To put you into perspective let me remind you.

Do you remember you sat here two months ago, at night at two, at this very place, at this very time, and this sea was raging against this concrete bankment? And you dared then to go through what you went through? Didn't you sit yourself here, looking into that deep, black seawater, and you considered killing that fantastic vision that somehow the odds against you were too great in the face of achieving power to inflict good change with technological and political stratagems? You dared to question your dream? You thought you were incapable of translating those designs into reality. You can't yet write software like Microsoft, Stripe, then how can you dream that dream? "Be more realistic", you told yourself. What horror could've passed if your belief had not emboldened in that moment? Tough times can be tough. They can be revelatory and enlightening. It's always good to have close ones by your side, I've noticed. What BS! It's 1:10 already.

You baked those visions with stories of Bonaparte, Elon, and great minds that passed our age that it's possible, if you put your mind to it, for you to paint those technologies that can forever get us rid of lawyers, stagnant bureaucracies, failed ways to educate millions, build a state that's autonomous driven by computers and AI, autonomous cars that will chalk every city, transportation will be renewed with rockets, cities connected with loops, education will be democratized with complete automation. What's not possible? What a thrill would it be to ride this wave? Now that you're looking for ideas, they're everywhere. Computer Science has equipped you with a sledgehammer that will inflict change in many industries with high returns. Learning opportunities are immense. World is amazingly international. Talent is global, not local. Developers are the new nomads. What were dusty clouds of incongruent dots are puff, weighty weights of great men are nothing but galvanizers to belief that all can be done. Hong Kong has given me an eye with a clearer lens. Oh did she, at first, try to tear me with her teeth, but she turned out to be a toothless paper tiger, and I a steel sheet. This burden, this time, will be testing, testing of this steel sheet at the behest of creationary visions.

It's 1:30, let it out. What's your 0 Billion dollar company? Let's put its foundation stone, let's build its first product. Let's begin this journey. What books you read, what people you talk to, what blitzscaling ensues, what daily results emerge. Don't stop on that fine line when you start to break down and fall into sleep on that keyboard. When listening to those judging you. Giving into trivial, menial desires. Imagine rancorously and let it flow into creation. They did it. So can you. You're not static, but a throbbing weapon of change. Fail greatly. Shit. It's 1:40. Get back to the lone hall in Simon Lee. Grab your laptop. Get the books. Get the cold cups of coffee. Put on "Time". Back to beautiful work.
